  Are JW's generally better than average people?

  i for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

  No, Rosalee, after spending so many years under mind-control the last thing I would wish on anyone is to "obligate" them to do anything. If you can summon the courage and honesty to plainly confront either my questions or the others that have been presented to you, I'd love to hear your thoughts. But, no, you're certainly not "obligated"
  to and I apologize if I gave that impression.

  But, to make sure you're clear on your "obligations", the clear "obligation" that has been laid down by the WTS to YOU is to log off this poisonous apostate site right now, confess to the local elders and hope they don't kick you to the curb.

  But, I have a feeling you're getting a vicarious thrill out of seeing the "apostate waters roil" as you drag the bait along and you won't be able to stop yourself.

  when i started going to the kingdom hall it was late 1950's and jesus christ did not have a beard in any of the society's illustrations.. when did this begin?

  what article justified this?.

  i'd like to see either a watchtower explanation of why jesus went beardless or any scan of an article that was apologia for the contrarian view.. suddenly, years later, the watchtower society agreed with christendom!

  You weren't actually expecting one were you?

  I'm still waiting for one on many issues, but in fairness, I don't think they did so badly on this one.

  Nevertheless, as already shown, it is apparent that Jesus did wear a beard, and so artistic representations of him in future Watch Tower publications will harmonize with the Scriptural evidence to that effect.

  I think that's as close to an apology as the WT will ever get. And, of course, it's about a pretty minor issue.

  Now re: child abuse, blood transfusions, etc. etc. A real apology and a 180 degree turn is sorely needed there.

  But we all know that's not gonna happen.

  p.s. I think the site is acting weird today. It looks like you had no replies for several hours, but many people read your thread. Same thing happened to me and then replies just started showing up all of a sudden.

  i love them.

  they don't scratch my pots and pans, do a great job and they are inexpensive.

  i got mine at dollar stores.. the ones i have either white or clear handles and the paddle end comes in colors.

  i am new to this forum, and am just starting to get over the guilt of reading posts here.

  i was raised as a witness, was disfellowshipped last year.

  all my brothers and sister left too, so my parents were devastated when i left, as i was the only one left going to meetings.

  Not wanting to break my parents heart was probably the biggest reason I decided to stay in about 20 yrs ago. All things considered, it was a poor decision.

  Whose life is it? We were raised to believe that it's really Jehovah's life, not our own, and we need to do what he says. But, then where's the free will in that?

  He might as well have made us instinctive "bow-downers".

  Stay free. You won't regret it.

  Rosalee, what you did not clear up was the pretty clear implication that "WTS teachings" & "Bible teachings" are not one and the same.

  The trumpet blasts of Revelation Chapter 8, written about 1900 yrs ago. According to the Revelation Climax Book, (current light that we're studying right now) John was prophetically writing about "lectures" that were going to be heard by a few thousand attendees at conventions of a tiny Christian sect in the 1930s.

  At a gut level and a brain level that so-called "Bible Teaching" appears ludicrous to me. Now, if I go to the elders and say, "Brothers, I believe Jehovah is directing the F&D slave and I don't have a problem with anything, except for these trumpet blasts. I just can't believe that they are the fulfillment of Rev. Chapter 8. I've researched it. I've prayed about. And it just doesn't make sense to me." If I don't back down on my doubt, I will be disfellowshipped and, ultimately, slaughtered by my loving God at Armageddon because I didn't buy the trumpet blast thingey.

  FYI, I'm currently an active JW and staying that way for family purposes. But if ever decide to go public and get disfellowshipped, I think this is how I'll get myself booted out. How ridiculous will that look to "worldly" family and work associates?

  nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?
